Wayg vs Bumpa: selling online or keeping the records straight

Bumpa is built around selling. Wayg is built around the records agreeing. For many businesses the right answer is both, not one.

A phone showing an online store on one side and a shop counter with a stock list on the other

A fashion seller in Yaba does most of her business in Instagram DMs. She has a Bumpa store with her own domain, she sends the link, the customer pays, the order lands.

Then her supplier asks what she still has in the small size, and her account officer asks what she actually made last month. Those two answers come from different places.

That is the real shape of this comparison. Bumpa and Wayg are built around two different problems, and plenty of businesses have both at once.

What each one is actually built around

Bumpa is built around selling. In its own words it "simplifies your business operations with tools that make inventory, sales, orders & customer management easy." At the centre is the selling surface: a hosted online store, a custom domain, social commerce, customer groups, invoicing, barcode generation, and messaging credits to push a campaign at your customer list. Unlimited products and unlimited invoices on every plan.

Wayg is built around the records agreeing. Point of Sale, Inventory, Store Management and Bookkeeping on one set of records, with daily reconciliation and variance detection across cash, stock, transfers and books, team roles with audit trails, and the Wayg Assistant taking voice or text.

One limit on the Wayg side, stated plainly: Wayg does not build you an online storefront. If a hosted shop on your own domain is what you need, that is Bumpa's ground.

The point of sale question, and where it sits on each price list

On Bumpa, per its published plans at the time of writing, the POS feature appears at the Growth plan. Growth is ₦150,000 billed biannually or ₦250,000 billed yearly.

On Wayg, point of sale is on every plan, including the free one. Free is ₦0 and covers 1 user, 50 product variants, 50 customers and 60 AI credits.

If you sell online only and never ring up a walk-in, that difference costs you nothing. If you have a counter, a stall or a pop-up, it is the whole decision. Why a POS on its own still leaves you reconciling is worth reading before you assume a till is a till.

Prices, and the billing cadence nobody mentions

Bumpa bills quarterly at the shortest. Wayg bills monthly. That is not a detail, so here are both lists with the period stated every time.

Bumpa, per its published pricing at the time of writing: Starter ₦15,000 a quarter, ₦28,000 biannually or ₦55,000 a year. Pro ₦30,000 a quarter, ₦55,000 biannually or ₦105,000 a year. Growth ₦150,000 biannually or ₦250,000 a year, with no quarterly option. Scale and Premium sit above that and their prices are not captured here, so this post does not state one.

Wayg, per its published pricing: Free ₦0, Starter ₦5,000 a month, Basic ₦15,000, Growth ₦25,000, Scale ₦50,000. Annual billing saves 17%, quoted on the site as ₦50,000, ₦150,000, ₦250,000 and ₦500,000 a year.

Now the like for like, with the working shown. Across a full year, Bumpa Pro at ₦105,000 sits against Wayg Basic at ₦150,000, so Bumpa is the cheaper annual cheque by ₦45,000. One tier up, Bumpa Growth at ₦250,000 a year and Wayg Growth at ₦250,000 a year land on exactly the same number.

The cadence is where it bites. Bumpa's smallest published commitment is ₦15,000 up front for three months of Starter, which averages ₦5,000 a month but leaves the account ₦15,000 lighter on the day. Wayg's smallest paid commitment is ₦5,000 for one month, and below that a free plan that does not expire. If you check the balance before every restock, a quarterly minimum is a real constraint.

Bumpa wants the sale to happen. Wayg wants the sale, the stock, the cash and the books to still agree on Saturday evening.

Staff seats, locations and messaging credits

Seats: Bumpa Pro carries 3 staff, Growth 5, Scale 10. Wayg is 1 user on Free, 3 on Starter, 5 on Basic, 10 on Growth, 50 on Scale.

Locations: Bumpa is 1 on Starter and Pro, 2 on Growth, 3 on Scale. Wayg does not publish a location cap, so if multi-branch is your question, confirm it on the pricing page rather than inferring it from any article.

Messaging credits are Bumpa's and they are genuine: 100 a month on Starter, 200 on Pro and 1,000 on Growth, with 12,000 on Scale, plus 5, 20 and 100 customer groups on the first three. That is a real marketing engine. Wayg does not sell messaging credits and should not pretend otherwise. It integrates with WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Telegram as channels orders arrive from, which is a different thing from a bulk campaign.

Two more Bumpa specifics worth naming: a free .com.ng domain on Pro yearly and on Growth, and dual currency, naira and dollar, at Growth.

Bumpa is listed as an integration on Wayg's own site

Most comparison articles would bury this, so it gets its own heading. Bumpa is named on Wayg's site as an integration, alongside WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Telegram, QuickBooks, Shopify, Chowdeck, Glovo, spreadsheets, handwritten notes and websites.

So for a lot of readers the honest recommendation is not one or the other. Sell on Bumpa. Keep the records in Wayg. The store, the domain, the social selling and the campaigns stay where they work, and the stock, the counter, the daily variance and the books sit on one ledger you can show a supplier or an accountant.

Confirm what the connection actually syncs, and how often, inside Wayg before you plan a month end around it.

Choose Bumpa if

Choose Bumpa if your business is the store. If most of your revenue arrives through a link you sent, if you want a hosted shop on your own domain without hiring anybody, if you need to message a customer list on Friday to move stock by Sunday, Bumpa is doing the job it was built for and Wayg does not do that job at all.

Choose Bumpa if you are online only, with no counter and one location. The POS gap costs you nothing and Pro is the cheaper annual cheque.

Choose Wayg if the pain is on the other side: stock that does not match the shelf, a counter that needs a till today, cash that will not agree with the day's sales. That is how Wayg works, and it is a different problem from selling more.

Frequently asked questions

Is Wayg a Bumpa alternative, or does it work with Bumpa?

Both are possible, but the integration is the more useful answer for most businesses. Bumpa is named on Wayg's site as an integration, so you can keep selling through your Bumpa store while stock, cash and books sit on one set of records in Wayg.

Does Wayg give me an online store with my own domain?

No. Wayg's four products are point of sale, inventory, store management and bookkeeping. A hosted storefront is Bumpa's territory, and a free .com.ng domain comes with Bumpa Pro yearly and with Growth.

Which is cheaper, Bumpa or Wayg?

Compare the same period. Over a year, Bumpa Pro is ₦105,000 against Wayg Basic at ₦150,000, while Bumpa Growth and Wayg Growth are both ₦250,000 a year. Bumpa's shortest term is a quarter, Wayg bills monthly and has a free plan. Prices were correct at the time of writing.

I sell on Instagram. Which one do I need?

If your hardest problem is turning DMs into orders and reaching those customers again, start with the selling tool. If it is that the DMs, the stock and the bank statement have never agreed, start with the records. Selling on Instagram: from DM to receipt to books covers the join.

Run both and see which half is broken

Watch where one week of your time actually goes. If it goes into getting orders, invest in selling. If it goes into working out what you have, what you took and what it cost you, that is the records. Wayg's free plan gives you one user, 50 product variants and 60 AI credits, enough to test it against a real week of trading.
